For CA practices and auditors

Review your clients' books instead of retyping them.

Your clients upload their bank statements, or your firm uploads them. Each line becomes a suggested entry with a reason you can read. Someone at your firm approves or corrects each one, and each change is recorded with their name and the time. If you audit books you didn't write, a read-only login lets you follow a figure back to its entry and to the person who approved it.

Alignmoney is new. This page says what works today, what's coming later, and what we don't do.

01The work

The work this is for

  • Bank statements reach your firm as PDFs and spreadsheets, and someone types them into the books line by line.
  • A client rings to ask what an entry means, and the answer is in a junior's head.
  • A figure changes after the month is done, and it takes a while to find out who changed it.
  • You're auditing books someone else wrote, and the first job is working out where each figure came from.

If none of these is your practice, you may not need us.

02Practices

How a practice uses it

There are two ways in, and a firm can use both.

A free seat in every client's company

  • When a client invites you, you join their company as their Accountant.
  • It's free on every plan, including Keep.
  • You see their books, bank transactions and invoices.
  • You approve or correct entries, and each change is recorded with your name and the time.
  • One login covers all your clients, and you switch between companies from the sidebar.
  • We don't email invitations yet. Your client adds your email address in Settings → People, and you sign in with that address.

Your profile shows "Accountant (CA)" once we've checked your ICAI membership number. Until then, it shows "Accountant".

Keep clients' books yourself on Practice

  • On the Practice plan, your firm sets up client companies and runs their books from your login: upload statements, review suggested entries, and close each month.
  • Practice is set up with us directly for now. Tell us, and we set up your firm.

How review works

Why

The statement line reads 'CLOUD HOSTING', so we've suggested Software subscriptions. Change it if this one was different.

Approve and postSuggested, not posted.
  1. 1. Statements arrive

Your client uploads a statement to their company, or you upload one to a company you manage. Password-protected PDFs aren't supported yet.

  2. 2. Suggested entries

Each line becomes a suggested entry with a reason you can read: the statement line, and the past entries it looked at.

  3. 3. You review

Approve, correct or reject. Set a rule for a payee so future suggestions follow it.

  4. 4. On the record

Each approval and correction is recorded with who did it and when.

  5. 5. Your client can read it

If your client has a login, they can read the reason on each entry. That way your calls can go to the questions that need you.

  6. 6. Close the month

When a month's checks pass, you lock it. A locked month refuses new entries, and unlocking needs a reason.

  2. Done2. The review queue is empty for the month
  3. Done3. Each bank account is reconciled: the books match the statement at month end
  4. Done4. Invoices and notes dated in the month are issued or cancelled

What works today, and what's coming later

Today

  • Free Accountant seat in any client's company, on every plan including Keep
  • One login and a client switcher across all your companies
  • Set up and manage client companies on Practice (3 free)
  • Review queue, approve and correct
  • Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash-flow statement and trial balance; each line opens to the entries behind it
  • Month close and lock
  • A read-only Viewer login, which a client can give their auditor
  • A Clients page listing the companies where you're the Accountant, with each one's review queue and month-close status

Coming later (no dates)

  • Uploading statements for many clients at once
  • Maker and checker roles for your staff
  • Tally export

We don't give dates for the second list, and we'd rather you didn't decide on it.

03Auditors

How an auditor uses it

There is no separate auditor product yet.

What exists today is a read-only login, and books that keep a record of how each entry got there.

It helps only when your client's books are kept in Alignmoney.

  1. 1. Your client adds you

The company's owner adds your email address in Settings → People, with the role Viewer. Viewer is read-only: you can't add, change or approve anything.

  2. 2. You sign in

Sign in at alignmoney.in with that email address. We send you a sign-in link, and it works only in the browser you asked from.

  3. 3. Start from the statements

The profit and loss, balance sheet, cash-flow statement and trial balance are built from approved entries, and each line opens to the entries behind it.

  4. 4. Open an entry

Each entry shows where it came from: a bank statement line, an invoice or a manual entry.

  5. 5. Check the periods

A locked month refuses new entries, and unlocking it needs a reason.

  6. 6. Take figures out

You can download the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow statement as CSV. The trial balance has no CSV download yet.

What it doesn't do for an audit

  • It doesn't select samples, keep working papers or test controls.
  • It doesn't form an opinion, and nothing in it is an audit.
  • A Viewer login uses one of the client's user seats today.

What we do, and don't do, with your clients

  • We never suggest a founder doesn't need their CA, and we never refer clients to another firm.
  • We're building a directory of checked professionals. It isn't open yet.
  • Alignmoney doesn't record, set or show your professional fees.

What we can see

  • Our support team opens your company's data only if you switch on Support access. It lasts up to 72 hours, covers one company, and every access is logged where you can see it.
  • A small number of engineers can reach our systems to keep them running, and that access is also logged.

Where the data goes

  • To suggest entries, we send the parts of your statements and books the AI needs to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes them outside India.
  • Try Alignmoney on the sample company or your own firm's books, keep your originals, and put a client's books in only if that client has agreed in writing.

05Cost

What it costs

Today
  • 3 client companies free for your firm on the Practice plan.
  • The Accountant seat in a client's own company is free on every plan, including Keep.
  • A client company with its own plan isn't one of your managed companies, so it doesn't use a slot.
  • Payments aren't switched on yet, so nobody is charged for anything today.
  • Paid client companies beyond the free 3 aren't open yet. Need more than 3 now? Tell us and we'll let you know when you can add them.
  • What you charge your clients is yours to decide. We don't set it, see it or show it.

06Limits

What we don't do

  • We don't file returns. You file, as you do today.
  • We don't connect to your bank. You upload statements.
  • We don't import from Tally or export to it. Tally export is on the coming-later list, with no date.
  • We don't send email, except the link you sign in with. That means no invitations, reminders or invoice emails yet.
  • We haven't checked the due dates yet. Every date in the calendar is marked "Unconfirmed", and due-date alerts are off. Keep using your own calendar.
  • We don't audit, attest or sign anything.
  • We don't give tax, legal or investment advice.
  • We never ask for your GST or income-tax portal passwords, or your DSC.

How we work with CA firms

  • We don't pay commissions or referral fees, in cash or in kind. Nothing your firm gets from us depends on how many of your clients buy Alignmoney.
  • Your clients stay yours.
  • Clients control their data. In a client's own company, the client is the owner: they can export the books and remove your access at any time. In a company your firm set up, your firm is the owner of the workspace and makes the exports.
  • You're responsible for your professional work. Alignmoney is software. It suggests and records. It doesn't file, attest or advise.
  • We don't use your name without your written consent. We don't publish CA testimonials or name firms in our marketing. If we ever do, it will be with written consent and a note of any free access you received.

07Start

How to start

  1. Tell us about your firm, using the form below.
  2. We show you Alignmoney on a sample company.
  3. We set up Practice for your firm, with 3 client companies free.
  4. Start with your own firm's books, or with one client who has agreed in writing. Upload one month's bank statement as CSV or Excel, and review what's suggested.
  5. After a month, decide whether it has earned a place in your practice. If it hasn't, export the books and leave.

Auditors: if a client of yours already keeps books in Alignmoney, ask them to add you as a Viewer. You don't need to talk to us first.

Be part of the Alignmoney directory

We're building a directory of vetted chartered accountants and financial advisers from across the world. If you are a CA, register here.

Registering is free. We check every membership with the body that issued it before anyone is listed. The directory is not open to founders yet; we'll write to you before your profile is shown.

08Questions

Questions you may have

  • Will this replace my articles or juniors?

No. It changes the first step: the first draft of each bank entry is suggested by software, not typed. Someone at your firm still checks every line, and nothing goes into the books until a person approves it. Suggestions can be wrong, and correcting them is part of the work. We haven't measured how much time it saves, so we don't quote a figure.

  • Who owns the client's data?

In a client's own company, the client is the owner: they can export the books and remove your access at any time. In a company your firm set up, your firm is the owner of the workspace and makes the exports. Moving a company from your firm's workspace to the client's own account isn't built yet.

  • Can I use Tally alongside?

Yes, but the two don't talk to each other today: there's no Tally import or export. You can download the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow statement as CSV. If Tally stays the book of record for a client, you'd carry the results across by hand, and for that client Alignmoney may not be worth it yet.

  • What about my existing clients' books?

There's no import from other accounting software. You start a company from a date you choose, enter the opening balances as a journal entry, and upload bank statements from that date. Earlier years stay where they are. It's simplest to begin with a new client, or at the start of a financial year.

  • Does the client see my fees?

Alignmoney doesn't record, set or show your professional fees.

  • How accurate are the suggestions?

We don't quote an accuracy figure, because we haven't measured one on customers' books yet. A reason can be wrong. Change the entry if it doesn't fit. The first statement you upload for a client is the test that matters: count how many entries you approved as suggested and how many you corrected.

  • Where is the data kept?

To suggest entries, we send the parts of your statements and books the AI needs to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes them outside India.

Try Alignmoney on the sample company or your own firm's books, keep your originals, and put a client's books in only if that client has agreed in writing.

  • Do you pay CAs for bringing clients?

No. We don't pay commissions or referral fees, in cash or in kind. Nothing your firm gets from us depends on how many of your clients buy Alignmoney.
